Barratt David Wilson (BDW)
Hooe Lake, Plymouth
This quality waterfront development of 190 units was formerly an old quarry and contained a number of challenging circumstances during construction.
MJL were commissioned to install a new roundabout off Barton Road and access road along the waters edge requiring a significant gabion structure in the region of 6m high to support the new carriageway that was carried out under tidal conditions.
The site itself was extensively remodelled to level using surplus arisings from the former quarry and involved the installation of an insulated raft foundation and ground floor construction throughout.
There is also a considerable stone-faced RC retaining wall wrapping around the front of the site to allow the site to be raised and benefit from the lovely views across the water.
MJL are currently undertaking the final works on site to achieve adoption of the roads & sewers with works anticipated to be complete shortly.
St Martins, Looe
This development of 174 units sits within the desirable Cornish village of Looe with far reaching views of the adjoining countryside.
MJL are currently working on phase 2 of the project which is well underway with all infrastructure works now complete and the balance of plot works ongoing.
Union Corner, Falmouth
This site comprises 104 units and is located on the outskirts of the busy sea-side town of Falmouth.
MJL were commissioned to install the groundworks package inclusive of all infrastructure & plot works and a considerable off-site sewer connection across the main road and down through the adjoining school fields. This included a complex directional drilling exercise under the adjoining carriageway to avoid disruption to this busy access road and minimised disruption for both road users and local residents.
