Mi Space
Passivhaus Scheme in Plymouth
This unique innovative development of 72 units attracted a huge amount of attention being the first Passivhaus development of its kind in the Southwest.
Passivhaus is an energy standard with excellent thermal performance; making bills for home owners extremely low and this is believed to be one of the largest low-energy Passivhaus developments in the country.
The structure comprises of a reinforced insulated raft foundation and a ground floor with air tight construction to precise standards, boasting a heat recovery system that negates the need for a traditional central heating system.
MJL were commissioned by Mi Space to install all infrastructure works and plot works including an off-site foul connection through adjoining park land. There was also a large Weholite attenuation tank to deal with surface water.
The site was split into two areas separated by a significant change in level and required careful management throughout to ensure the standards set by Passivhaus and the client were exceeded; resulting in a multi award winning development.
